Born in Fortaleza, Lincoln moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1951. He played the double bass at nightclubs and jam sessions. In the 50’s, he worked with 2 legendary Bossa Nova musicians - Luís Eça and Dick Farney. He also played with nightclub bands and recorded with Trio Plaza, the band that played at the Plaza hotel in Rio de Janeiro. At that same period, he also started playing the piano.
